I use del.icio.us to send links to my fiancé. When I’m browsing and I find something I want him to see I just save it to my del.icio.us account with the tag tojim (to Jim), and he subscribes to that tag with a Firefox live bookmark. It’s easier for me than sending an email, and if he wants to visit any of them again it’s easier for him to find. It’s similar to what the folks at Columbia Teacher’s College do with their collective tag for their department, and what we at UIC are doing with a collective del.icio.us account, and what A VC did with MP3s. I suppose if Jim knew other people that use social bookmarks he could get links from multiple people to him this way. Perhaps splicing individual user’s tojim tags into a feed would be preferable to subscribing to the tag tojim itself though, due to spam or just link overload potential. Jim does not have a del.icio.us account now (he is supposed to be the geek CS guy not me) so I’ll stick with tojim until he sees the light.
