settling in
With 3 weeks of classes behind me I’m starting to get settled into the new school and my new schedule. It’s a little hectic but manageable. We have a new online group for students to share announcements and other info so that’s a step in the right direction. I’ve learned quite a bit about statistics already and had the opportunity to hear several faculty members and guests present their work. I’m just finishing up a group of readings about one of my favorite subjects, the early history of electronic communication media - the telegraph, the cinema and their precursors / context. I’ve also started to revise part of my MA thesis into a conference paper and I’m working on on some interesting data with the Web Use Project.
With so many things going on around the university I always feel like I might be missing something, or, worse, I know I’m missing something because two things are scheduled at the same time. It’s not a bad problem to have, too many resources, interesting events, and talks.
