Post Proposal

Since the proposal defense I’ve been in a little bit of a funk because I’ve hit the bureaucracy phase of the process. I fully understand the need for it, but filling out forms for the department, the graduate college, and the IRB - occasionally in triplicate - requiring various signatures, waiting for responses and correcting my mistakes is not my favorite thing. I’d rather be doing the research I proposed. I’m hoping to get IRB approval so I can then fill out the rest of the forms and be done with this round of paperwork next week-ish. Then I’ll be done with forms until I defend the thesis.

I did get a chance to enjoy some of this forced time off. Jim & I drove to Washington D.C., mecca of bureaucracy, for a long weekend last week.
