Surveillance as Social Sorting - YouTube Video
I’m working on a paper about the different ways people think about privacy issues in relation to technology. While looking up some citations I came across this YouTube video by Professor David Lyon about his work on Surveillance as Social Sorting (he edited a book by that title that came out in 2003). It’s a nice 5 minute intro to the topic. I think it’s a great use of YouTube.
My condo building makes front page news
Today my condo building made the front page of the Chicago Tribune. Every condo building has its controversies regarding common areas and zoning, but it’s odd to have that make the news at all, let alone page one. A couple of mistakes in the article - the building is 60 stories not 65, and 100 signatures to a petition is not that many considering there are 900 units in the towers. And by the way, I’m 2 doors down from the unit with the flag on the balcony in the front page picture.
